As everybody knows by now, Napster is now legal. Napster's logos and brand name was taken over by Roxio In. who rebranded their Pressplay music service as Napster 2.0
The P2P file sharing networks that napster used to good effect at one time, however, are still live and well, and in that respect Napster has been the Fall Guy and has lost out. Network services such as Limewire and Kazaa are still operating on the premise that file sharing is not illegal - it is those that use the service sillegally that are breaking the law.
That is quite true, and there is nothing wrong with file sharing. I sell many types of memberships on this website. It is up the purchasers what they do with them. However, my personal view is that it is not the occasional downloader of a favorite band or track that the music and movie companies are aftre, it is those that make a business of it and record what they download to CD and DVD and sell them for profit.
The whiners should shut up and look at themselves and their flthy habits before complaining about others breaking the law by downloading a few tracks. It is these same downloaders that pay obscene fortunes to see their drug addled idols 'perform' live as they try to emulate what their technical geniuses work hard to make them sound like on CD.
And why should we not be allowed to download a few old movies that have been shown on TV so often that we known the whole scripts in any case. So what if one or two modern blockbusters accidentally slips through the ether onto our hard drives. It's not our fault if they can't look afyter their property and allow some high school kids to beat them in teh technology game.
If the big boys can't learn enough about the interent to beat the kids, the kids deserve to win. So let's not listen any more to compalints about the ethics of peer-to-perr file sharing networks. Long may they prosper.
